movin' around

We felt the baby move! I was just sitting at my desk doing some work when I felt these little movements inside my tummy. "Eugene, I'm either gaseous...or the baby's moving!" I quickly put my hands on my belly (I also have headphones on my belly for baby to listen to some classical music) and not only did I feel him move, but I felt him "poke" my hand through my belly! It was absolutely incredible! Eugene put his hands on my belly and we waited a little bit...and then...MOVEMENT! I was so happy I started crying! We finally felt the baby move! And we got to enjoy the experience together!!

Baby ___ Wong!

We went in for our major ultrasound today and boy what an experience! I had to drink 32 ounces of water one hour prior to the appointment and NOT use the restroom so that they can get a good ultrasound of my cervix, etc. to make sure everything's okay. I drank the water as directed, but I should have known (being in healthcare myself) that no appointment is EVER on time. Eugene and I waited and waited and waited and I was in so much pain! I really thought I was going to let loose right there in the waiting room! It got so bad that I ran to the restroom TWICE, but didn't fully "go" so that there's some fluid in my bladder for the ultrasound. It was so painful! My appointment was scheduled for 2:40pm, we arrived at 2pm, and didn't get in until 3pm! Agh!!! I'm just glad that it's finally over! Now, for our cute little baby. At 20 weeks, baby looks kind of like Skeletor huh? But it's cute how the baby has baby's hand on baby's head!

Now, the big question...is baby a boy or a girl? We held off telling even our family for a little bit so that we could share the secret between just the two of us. After the ultrasound, we celebrated with a yummy pineapple and ham pizza from BJs. We even had a pizookie afterwards! I think it's safe to say that my appetite and stomach are back to normal! Then, we stopped by Babys-R-Us to check out the strollers that fit the car seat we got from Gladys and Duke. Boy! Those Chicco strollers sure are HEAVY! Not only that, but with the car seat on top of it, the entire stroller looks like one big mess that I would have to push around all the time. I don't know if I'd be able to handle that. So if anyone out there has any advice on whether to get the matching car seat stroller or just a generic frame that goes with any stroller, please let us know!

Halfway there!

I'm 20 weeks pregnant! My, how I've grown...

**Here I am at 6 weeks, 12 weeks, and 19 weeks**

We have a couple of upcoming exciting events to commemorate my 20 weeks:

**We're moving half a block away to a bigger place**
**We're getting our ultrasound this week**

The first half of the pregnancy has been quite eventful. I never thought I would be one to throw up from being pregnant, but I continued to throw up all the way through the 17th week. It wasn't until the start of the 18th week that I was able to eat again, and boy did I eat! Eugene and I had a fabulous brunch on Jan. 9 at Judy's Cafe. Eugene had one of the best omelettes ever and I had one of the best french toasts ever. Needless to say, we'll be going back there.

I promise that for the second half of baby brewing that I will update my status more often. Maybe once a week? For now, here are my stats:

**20 weeks pregnant
**Able to eat, more energy
**117.4 pounds (the most I've ever weighed!)
**Latest craving: dark chocolate

First dream about baby...

I had my first dream about baby last night and it was absolutely horrifying! I've read in some books that women dream about giving birth and how terrifying the dream was because of the pain or because they gave birth to an animal. My dream...not about birth at all. Baby was a girl and even though she was just a newborn, she could talk! And boy...was she talking as in talking back to me and being obnoxious to me! Nothing I did was right by her. Because I was so nervous, I even forgot to feed her for a whole day! When I woke up, I just felt miserable. I knew it was a dream, but I couldn't help feeling that baby was going to grow up into an obnoxious person who talked back to his/her parents. Eugene thinks it's just a funny dream...since he's always obnoxious to me in my dreams as well. :P

A Healthy Heartbeat

We had our 15 week checkup yesterday and heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time! It was so amazing to hear our little one's heart beat so quickly and with such strength. "It's a healthy heartbeat!" my OB told me. So far so good then? :)

I was so overwhelmed that tears flooded my eyes. I still can't believe it sometimes...there's a little person growing inside of me! Everytime I touch my belly, I wonder what baby will grow up to be, if baby will be a musician, an artist, an athlete, if baby will be shy or super extroverted. Well, regardless, I know that the Lord Jesus has everything planned and ready for our little one.

Next appointment...January 22 to find out if baby is a boy or girl! Can't wait!

Week 14...a little poochier

When I first found out that I was pregnant, I imagined that I would keep a daily diary/blog about the whole experience so that my baby would have something to read back on later. I also imagined that I would be this wonderfully happy pregnant lady who would spread joy to all those around her. Boy...was I ever wrong...

Being pregnant during residency is not only hard and draining on the energy and body, but also...hard and draining on the energy and body. I wanted to throw up day and night during the first 12 weeks and now that I'm in the 14th week, one would think that it'd be over, but in my case...I'm still throwing up, I'm still tired, and I'm still drained. When will all of this be over? I just want to be that happy pregnant lady soon. The only things that really help me through each day are knowing that the Lord Jesus is watching us and carrying us through every step of the way, having Eugene by my side holding me and hugging baby every chance he gets, and thinking about and imagining how baby is growing inside of me. I pray that the Lord will continue to guide us through the next 6 months and that He will also be the love of baby's life.

new beginnings

it is definitely time to start blogging again. and what better way to start things off than with our new baby! we found out on sept 29 that we're pregnant! or, i'm pregnant and eugene's a happy father-to-be. at my first prenatal appointment, we got to see our little hippo (that looks more like a peanut) and we also saw the heart flutter. now that the first trimester is coming to an end, i can say goodbye to all the nausea and vomitting and hopefully welcome some more energy and a better appetite. i'll try to post more so that we can keep track of our little one and also to share our joyous news with our family and friends. God really blessed us and i pray that He continues to watch over us as we continue this journey to our little family of three!
